Main Campus construction, maintenance cause closures, outages

(July 31, 2009)--There will be three closures or maintenance power outages in August at the UTSA Main Campus. A Biosciences Building rotunda entrance ramp will close Monday, Aug. 3 as a new southeast pathway opens. An intersection near the Physical Plant will be closed for repairs Aug. 7-10. Power to the John Peace Library Building will be off from 9 p.m. Aug. 14 to 8 a.m. Aug. 15.

New Biosciences Building pathway opens Aug. 3
The wooden ramp leading to the Biosciences Building rotunda will be closed as of Monday, Aug. 3 as a new construction phase begins on the Applied Engineering and Technology Building (formerly known as Engineering Building II) on the UTSA Main Campus. To access the Biosciences Building, a new pathway has been constructed on the southeast side of the building.
Intersection closes Aug. 7-10 at Fred Cook and Physical Plant drives
The corner of Fred Cook Drive and Physical Plant Drive will be closed for repairs from 7 a.m., Friday, Aug. 7 to 4 p.m., Monday, Aug. 10. The closure is for replacement of a manhole base cover and asphalt repair. The construction site will be barricaded.
John Peace Library Building power off late Aug. 14 to early Aug. 15
Electrical power at the John Peace Library Building will be shut down from 9 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 to 8 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 15 for preventative maintenance and main breaker testing. During the outage, emergency power and lighting will be available, but heating and cooling will not. The JPL data center and kitchen freezers in the JPL food court will retain full power during the maintenance work.
