New dashboard permit allows parking after hangtag ordering

By Tim Brownlee
Assistant Director of Public Affairs

(Aug. 11, 2009)--If you are coming to UTSA this fall and you haven't ordered a parking permit, now is the time to place your order online -- last year's permits expire Thursday, Aug. 20. Parking permits must be ordered online. The benefits are no waiting in long lines and the ability to order a permit any time of day through the ASAP information system.

And, beginning Saturday, Aug. 15, there will be a new service as part of parking permit ordering. UTSA permit buyers will be able to print a dashboard permit, valid for 7 days, at the completion of their online order. While the student, faculty member or staff member awaits the arrival of their hangtag permit by U.S. mail, the dashboard permit will allow them to park on campus without the worry of ticketing.

A new payment option also is available for UTSA students -- the parking permit cost can be added to their fee bills. Students who have registered for fall classes can purchase permits by MasterCard or Discover credit card, e-check or financial aid.

Faculty and staff can purchase permits by MasterCard, Discover credit card, e-check or can opt for payroll deduction on either a pre-tax or post-tax basis. For payroll deduction, the FY2010 permit cost is divided into monthly payroll deductions, which begin in October 2009. Deductions for permit purchases will continue until the full price of the permit is paid or until the permit is returned.

Faculty and staff members who want to use the Main Campus South Parking Garage must purchase a reserved garage permit. The permit features a magnetic stripe that allows garage access.

For permit type and rate information, visit the UTSA Business Auxiliary Services' Parking and Transportation Divisions Web site, e-mail parking@utsa.edu or call (210) 458-PARK (7275).
