Presentation at GEAR UP academic camp
(March 17, 2011)--This semester, 82 San Antonio ISD students in GEAR UP attended the "CSI: Saturday Academic Camp" on the UTSA Main Campus. The event featured professors and UTSA students sharing information about their majors and UTSA academic programs.
GEAR UP is otherwise known as Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs. At the camp, there were presentations on biochemistry, archaeology, engineering, mathematics and statistics, health and nutrition, and psychology.
Leticia Longoria, outreach specialist in the UTSA Office of P-20 Initiatives, oversees this initiative. San Antonio ISD GEAR UP is an $18 million grant program funded by the U. S.
