UTSA's Up 'Til Dawn event raises more than $15K for St. Jude hospital
UTSA Greek Life event raises money for children's hospital
(July 27, 2011)--UTSA Greek Life students and other UTSA community members recently raised $15,854 for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., as part of UTSA's Up 'Til Dawn program. It was the largest amount raised in the four years UTSA has participated. Since the UTSA program started in 2007, the group has raised $51,280.
Up 'Til Dawn is a student philanthropic program hosted by colleges and universities nationwide. UTSA organizers are committed to the cause that benefits children who are bravely fighting cancer. The money raised helps advance the mission of finding cures and saving children, so that patients can grow up and go to college, too.
UTSA's Up 'Til Dawn began with only Greek Life student participation, but was opened to the entire UTSA community two years ago. Weeks of planning and preparation culminate with the all-night event where group members ask friends, family and the UTSA community to donate to the St. Jude hospital and participate in games and activities to celebrate their efforts.
In preparation for the fifth annual Up 'Til Dawn on Nov. 12, a UTSA staff member and student leader will travel to Memphis, Tenn., at the end of July for the St. Jude's Collegiate Leadership Seminar.
