UTSA Upward Bound high school students distribute Christmas toys
(Dec. 20, 2011) -- Southside High School students participating in the UTSA Upward Bound program partnered with the Southside police department to distribute Christmas toys to needy children through the police department's Blue Santa program.
Upward Bound is a college preparatory program for high school students funded by the U.S. Department of Education and sponsored locally by UTSA. The program strengthens the academic skills of eligible high school students and prepares them to enter college and graduate with baccalaureate degrees.
The UTSA Upward Bound program serves approximately 135 students in grades 9-12 at Southside, John Jay and Oliver Wendell Homes high schools.
