UTSA's Bubba Makela earns spot on Top Drawer Soccer Freshman Top 100
(June 6, 2014) -- UTSA student Bubba Makela recently earned a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer.com Freshman Top 100 list.
The Mukilteo, Wash., native is one of just four student-athletes from Conference USA to make the list. A second-team All-C-USA honoree, who also was named to the league's All-Freshman squad, Makela played in all 19 contests in goal and made 18 starts last fall for the Roadrunners.
She finished the season ranked third in the league with 90 saves, while her 4.74 stops per game was the fifth-best mark in the circuit. Makela was the only freshman to be named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week twice last season and she helped UTSA shut out all five of its league opponents at home.
