UTSA alumni are hungry to serve at San Antonio Food Bank mixer
(June 10, 2014) -- More than 100 UTSA alumni will converge on the San Antonio Food Bank tomorrow night to take part in a service project benefiting local seniors. The evening event is expected to be one of the largest socials in UTSA Alumni Association history, according to Anne Englert, UTSA director of alumni programs.
"Our Alumni Association members have overwhelmingly told us that they want to have more mixers and events that incorporate service in the name of UTSA," said Englert. "This event received an overwhelming response."
UTSA alumni will support the food bank with cash donations and cans of nonperishable food. Hors d'oeuvres will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 11. Afterward, guests will compete for bragging rights as they build food boxes for local seniors. The event will close with a tour of the food bank and its grounds, including the garden.
