UTSA to benefit from new funding initiative by University of Texas System
(Aug. 29, 2014) -- The University of Texas System Board of Regents has provided additional funding for internal auditing functions at eight UT academic institutions including UTSA, freeing up funds at the campus level to keep tuition costs at the current rates.
As part of the initiative, funding and control of UTSA internal auditing will shift to the UT System. Beginning Sept. 1, the start of the new fiscal year, the UTSA Office of Internal Audit will report to UT System.
Dick Dawson, UTSA institutional chief audit executive, will report directly to UT System and indirectly to President Ricardo Romo.
The UTSA Office of Institutional Compliance and Risk Services, led by James Weaver, will continue to be funded locally by UTSA and will now report to Gail Jensen, UTSA chief legal officer.
Both the internal audit and compliance offices will continue to provide the same high-quality service and support to the UTSA community.
