UTSA International Trade Center participates in Mexican business conference

(Aug. 21, 2014) -- The International Trade Center, a Small Business Development Center in the UTSA Institute for Economic Development will participate in the 15th annual Mexican Association of Small Business Development Centers (AMCDPE) Conference Aug. 27-29 in Mérida, Yucatán, México. The AMCDPE is the Mexican equivalent of the U.S. Association of Small Business Development Centers.

Since 2003, the International Trade Center has been a key partner for the AMCDPE and other Mexican governmental organizations in helping to develop the now extensive network of SBDCs throughout the country. The International Trade Center will lend its support at the conference,and will present on several topics to attendees.

The conference will feature several UTSA presenters including Carla Gonzalez, SBDC global site specialist, who will discuss the ongoing international SBDC expansion work that is building U.S.-modelled SBDC networks internationally and SBDCGlobal.com services for clients and business advisors.

SBDCNet Director Deborah Schueneman will focus on research information about small businesses for small businesses as well as SBDCNet services. International Business Consultant Julio Garcia de las Mestas and Al Salgado, director of the South-West Texas Border SBDC Network, also will attend.

"The work that the AMCDPE has done to build a strong and cohesive SBDC network is commendable," said Cliff Paredes, director of the International Trade Center. "We are proud to have been able to assist them with training and professional development and to learn from our relationship with them."

The International Trade Center at UTSA is one of the largest and most successful trade assistance organizations in Texas. It helps companies become globally competitive through technical trade consulting, customized market research and innovative training programs. The center is a specialty SBDC program in the South-West Texas Border SBDC Network.
