(Aug. 22, 2014) -- If you drop by one of UTSA's three on-campus residence halls, chances are you'll see families hug, and you'll hear shouts of joy. More than 4,300 UTSA students begin moving in today to Chaparral Village, Laurel Village and San Saba Hall.

Hundreds of returning UTSA students and staff volunteers will be on campus on Aug. 22 to help the residents move their belongings to their new homes. Approximately 75 percent of the students moving in this weekend will be first-time freshmen.

UTSA President Ricardo Romo will be on hand to greet UTSA students and their families near Roadrunner Café at 12:30 p.m. The café opens at 1 p.m. for lunch.

Students are also encouraged to take photos of their move-in experience and share them online with @UTSA on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Move-In Weekend kicks off UTSA Roadrunner Days, the official start of UTSA's fall semester. Roadrunner Days offers students a series of events to preview campus life, make new friends and experience the excitement of being at a top-tier university.

At 7:30 p.m. today, students and their families are encouraged to attend UTSA's Welcome Back reception in Sombrilla Plaza. The reception, hosted by UTSA's Admissions staff, will feature a performance by the UTSA Spirit of San Antonio Marching Band.
