(Sept. 19, 2014) -- Chapter leaders among the 28 UTSA fraternities and sororities recently had the opportunity to attend national conventions or leadership schools. UTSA students met alumni volunteers and connected with brothers and sisters from campuses across the country.
The UTSA students travelled to cities such as Denver, Orlando and Las Vegas to learn how to further develop themselves and their organizations, while connecting with hundreds and sometimes thousands of attendees.
Each national organization recognized chapters for their outstanding efforts at a national level. To be considered for an award, a chapter must pay all fees on time, submit timely reports to their national organizations and submit an awards packet or report. The packet or application goes to a committee for extensive review and the selection process.
UTSA chapters that received recognition from their national organizations include:
Sigma Pi Fraternity
- Sage Cup recipient
- Perfect reporting efficiency for more than two years (first chapter to be distinguished for this)
- Most philanthropy projects (for 6-10 chapters tier)
- Most money raised for charity (for tier)
- Most service hours completed (for tier)
Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity
- National Excellence award for 2013-2014 Recruitment and 2014 Recruitment Excellence award given to chapters who surpass expectations for membership recruitment, growth and retention
Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity
- Social Recognition Award
Zeta Tau Alpha Women's Fraternity
