Interstate 10 construction closes one UTSA Boulevard exit for six months
(Oct. 14, 2014) -- The UTSA Boulevard westbound exit from Interstate 10 was closed Saturday, Oct. 11 because of freeway lane construction around DeZavala Road. The UTSA Boulevard exit ramp will be closed for approximately six months.
The eastbound I-10 exit to UTSA Boulevard (from the north) and the westbound entrance ramp to I-10 from UTSA Boulevard will remain open.
Alternate routes to UTSA from the south on Interstate 10 West are:
- DeZavala/Woodstone exit from Interstate 10 West: Follow the frontage road and turn left onto UTSA Boulevard.
- I-10 West exit at the Loop 1604 frontage road ramp: Turn left at the traffic signal, continue on the frontage road to La Cantera Boulevard and turn left to UTSA.
- Interstate 10 West exit to Loop 1604 West: Take UTSA exit and turn left to enter the Main Campus.
Additional I-10 work may slow down but not stop traffic to UTSA over the weekend. Beginning at 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 10 through Saturday night, Oct. 11, lanes will shift because of bridge construction at DeZavala Road.
In other construction work, UTSA Boulevard will be widened to four lanes from Babcock Road to Interstate 10. A project to move utility poles is in progress, but road closures and detours will not begin until January 2015, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
