UTSA National Night Out wins first place among Bexar County higher education
(Nov. 21, 2014) -- UTSA's National Night Out event, hosted for the fifth year by the UTSA Police Department, took first place among all Bexar County participants in the colleges and universities category. Judged by representatives of the San Antonio Police Department, it is the second time UTSA ranked first.
The event is an opportunity to stand together to decrease crime and increase safety awareness. It is America's night out against crime and for alcohol awareness for UTSA students, faculty, staff and neighbors.
At the University Center Paseo on the Main Campus, the UTSA community participated in safety-related games and activities provided by more than 35 exhibitors and enjoyed free food, door prizes and a live performance by the band Hearts Fail.
Additionally, nearly 100 books were collected to support the local charity, SA Reads.
