As students prepare to enter college, freshman have several concerns, such as getting good grades and making new friends. The University of Texas at San Antonio has entrusted the Learning Communities with the responsibility of assisting students with these matters by providing them with a bridge between the two worlds of high school and college.
We believe that freshman who participate in a first year programs like the Learning Communities are better equipped to build important relationships that bond them to their campus. A Learning Community is a group of students who share common interests and majors. During the fall semester, students are enrolled 2 or 3 core curriculum classes together and actively engage in collaborative learning.
The Freshman Seminar courses we offer provide students with a deeper understanding of college life while introducing strategies that will support their social and academic success. Students who join a Learning Community are starting their collegiate journey on the right path!
