Eating Disorders

Are you addicted to exercise?
Are you struggling with accepting the body you have?
Are you severely limiting the amount of food you take in daily?
Are you overeating and then using different methods to rid your body of the excessive food you have taken in over a short amount of time?
If you have answered "yes" to any or all of these questions, you may be experiencing symptoms of an eating disorder.  Thousands of college students face the challenges of adjusting to these years filled with new experiences and responsibilities.  For some men and women, this includes struggles with their appearance, weight, and satisfaction with their bodies.  Eating disorder behaviors can become a way to feel some control when different parts of life feel out of control.  However, eating disorder behaviors are not a healthy way to cope and can lead to serious problems with health, relationships, and self-esteem.

The UTSA Counseling Services is committed to helping students feel good on the inside and on the outside.  Counselors are available to discuss concerns, provide information, and provide counseling.
