Leveraging UTSA’s career-engaged learning initiatives, Carly was among just 400 applicants chosen for a 10-week summer internship with the firm’s data and analytics team in 2022. She continued her involvement with the firm as a product team intern and later as a part-time employee while she completed her final semester at the university.

“My time at UTSA provided me with an invaluable foundation for my career. A significant aspect of my education was the practical approach taken in many advanced courses, moving beyond textbooks to focus on real-world applications,” said Carly. “UTSA facilitated networking opportunities through on-campus job fairs and guest lectures from various companies, enabling me to establish valuable professional connections that led me to where I am today.”

In her current role as a product owner at Victory Capital, Carly manages a diverse set of responsibilities. She oversees the backlog of business needs, ensuring the timely delivery of production dashboards, advanced analytics projects, and enhancements to existing products. Carly also develops strategic roadmaps for four distinct workstreams to promote predictability and manage overlaps effectively. Additionally, she serves as a vital liaison between developers and business stakeholders, facilitating the clear communication of requirements, capabilities, and project progress.

“I am forever grateful to my alma mater,” expressed Carly. “The opportunities the university provided, coupled with its strong reputation, gave me and other students a competitive edge in the job market, as companies recognize UTSA as a source of skilled professionals ready to make significant contributions in the workforce."
