Social Media Tips

How’s That Story Coming Along?

Back in May, I shared the “Storytelling with Social Media” idea and encouraged you to use social media to express the personality of your office/department. The (somewhat) slower weeks after graduation and before classes begin in January is a great time to go back and assess how your story is shaping up. Perhaps you can ask colleagues at other universities to provide you with an honest assessment. Or ask your tween niece or college age cousin to take a look, and ask them to describe your office/department purpose and personality based on your social media accounts.

I will be sending a request in January asking for all departments within the Division to send us two of the social media goals you set up using the strategic storytelling method. The Social Media team will be using your goals to do an assessment of our own. This feedback will be provided to you through individual meetings next semester.

Don’t forget to plan your social media conversations with your followers during winter break! Having someone respond to questions is a great way to communicate to your followers- “YOU are important!”

Have a wonderful holiday, and I’ll see you in 2016!
