Introducing Windows 11

UTS is pleased to announce the impending upgrade of all UTSA PCs from Windows 10 to the Windows 11 operating system. As you may already be aware, Microsoft has elected to end support and stop updating Windows 10 in the coming year. This will make Windows 10 untenable in the UTSA environment.

All UTSA-issued PCs must be upgraded by the end of October 2025. Users may elect to begin the upgrade process as early as today. Over the course of the 2024-2025 school year, UTS will work with each department to upgrade every compatible Windows 10 machine to Windows 11.

Upgrade Options: Self-Service or Technician-Conducted

Most users have two options for completing the upgrade: you can conduct a self-service upgrade or a technician-conducted upgrade. The upgrade will maintain all programs and data while upgrading the Operating System (OS) and several of UTSA's supported applications.

Note: While you are unlikely to lose any data when completing the upgrade, it would still be a good idea to review the data you have backed up to OneDrive for Business.

Self-Service Upgrade

Use this link for self-service upgrade instructions.

You can complete the self-service upgrade on-campus or at home. For fastest results, consider conducting the upgrade from your office on campus while connected to a hard-wired connection.

Technician-Conducted Upgrade

To request a technician-conducted upgrade, use this link to create a ticket.

On that page, you will enter some information about your device and be able to select a date and time to drop off your device at Tech Café. You will be given a four-hour window in which you can pick up your device when the upgrade is complete.
