UTSA social work students present documentary on partner violence Nov. 29
(Nov. 27, 2012) -- UTSA social work graduate students will host a showing of the documentary, "Join Hands, Not Fists: Preventatively Addressing the Process Associated with Intimate-Partner Violence (IPV)," at 6 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 29 at San Anto Cultural Arts, 2120 El Paso, San Antonio, Texas, 78207. The screening is free and open to the public.
The documentary was created and organized by students from the UTSA Department of Social Work in collaboration with local nonprofit organizations.
The documentary highlights the need for preventative services for offenders of intimate-partner violence. The current lack of services will be addressed from law enforcement, offender, survivor and professional points of view.
The mission of the project is to raise awareness about the lack of prevention services regarding IPV. Currently, society relies on criminal justice system involvement before the issue is addressed; this is only for cases that are reported and have law enforcement involvement.
Street parking will be available at the venue. Refreshments will be served at the screening.
