Roadrunner Days: Event schedule for Thursday, Aug. 20
(Aug. 20, 2015) – Roadrunner Days continues this evening with the Howdy Rowdy Bash, an annual tradition that allows new and returning UTSA students to meet the university's student-athletes. Now in its 20th year, the celebration provides an opportunity for UTSA roadrunners get connected to UTSA athletics schedules.
Hang out with the Rowdy Crew, dance with the POM Squad and chant with UTSA cheerleaders. Listen to the Spirit of San Antonio, shout the UTSA fight song and get crazy with Rowdy the Roadrunner. The celebration includes music, free food, t-shirts and other giveaways while supplies last.
This year, the Howdy Rowdy Bash will feature a performance by We The Kings. The Florida-based, five-member band has three albums to its credit: its self-titled debut album (2007), Smile Kid (2009) and Sunshine State of Mind (2011).
Since 2007, We The Kings has garnered notable honors. Its single, "Check Yes Juliet," went platinum, and three singles on its second record – "Heaven Can Wait," "We'll Be a Dream" featuring Demi Lovato, and "She Takes Me High" – hit the top 40. The band is also received an MTV Video Music Award for Most Innovative Music Video of the Year for "Say You Like Me."
The Howdy Rowdy Bash is scheduled at 8 p.m. in the Convocation Center on the Main Campus.
The official kick-off of the new academic year, UTSA Roadrunner Days features a series of themed events running through Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Main and Downtown campuses. The events and activities give students an opportunity to take part in time-honored UTSA traditions and connect with UTSA resources.

UTSA Recital HallPressbooks is an open educational resource authoring platform for simple book publishing. Upon completion of the Pressbooks Basic workshop attendees will be able to: create a new book, clone an existing book, remix chapters from a variety of different Creative Commons licensed books, add media and other content to a book, export a book in a wide range of formats.
Virtual EventJoin Community-Engaged Digital Scholarship Hub (CEDISH) and the Digital Humanities Student Association (DHSO) at UTSA for an enlightening workshop on "Responsible Datasets in Context," sponsored by the Mozilla Foundation. Participants will gain insights into creating contextually rich datasets, developing data essays, and crafting effective visualizations.
