(Aug. 22, 2018) -- The UTSA Student Union (formerly the University Center) has everything students need to study, relax, and enjoy campus life at UTSA. Get the most from the Student Union by taking advantage of these six Student Union essentials.
1. The Info Desk: best help for students to find their way around
Come visit the Info Desk for directions, VIA bus schedules or a free cup of tea or lemonade on your way to class. The Info Desk is located next to the Rowdy Campus Store. Each week, the desk hosts free Popcorn Tuesdays and Spirit Fridays with great giveaways. All Info Desk staff are UTSA students with a passion for helping their fellow Roadrunners.
2. The Roost Game Room: for much needed breaks
Keep gaming on in The Roost Game Room. Located on the second floor of the H-E-B Student Union, The Roost is the perfect place for a break between classes. Enjoy video games, pool, chess, ping-pong and more at no cost. Make sure you join our weekly tournaments to show off your gaming skills.
3. The giant beanbags: good for study or…a nap
The giant beanbags in the Student Union are popular for studying, breaks between classes, or catching a quick nap. To understand why, just try one out. Find the beanbags on the first floor of the Student Union in the Window Lounge, or on the second floor surrounding the statue in the Airport Lounge.
4. The Roadrunner Pantry: A student grocery store
The Roadrunner Pantry is UTSA’s food pantry on campus. All UTSA students can receive up to five free food and non-food items per day at the pantry with a valid student ID. The pantry is located on the first floor of the Student Union, near the UPS Store.
5. U Cinema: free movies
The Student Union offers free movies every weekend in the Retama Auditorium – and sometimes out on the Union Lawn. This program is called UCinema and is just one of the many free events offered for students throughout the fall and spring semesters.
6. On-campus shopping: meets students’ needs
The Student Union is home to several retail stores where students can eat and shop with on campus convenience. The UPS Store, the Campus Technology Store and Rios Golden Cut Salon all provide stress-free shopping with great student prices. Visit the Roadrunner Express for discounted bus passes, tickets and UTSA spirit gear. The Student Union is also home to the Rowdy Campus Store and food options including Starbucks, Subway, Chili’s Too, Panda Express, Rowdy Mart and two new choices: Slice Pizza and Wings and Rowdy's Global Kitchen.
