Kickback at the Union is a favorite with Roadrunners.
(Aug. 17, 2018) -- It’s the moment all Roadrunners have been waiting for. Roadrunner Days begins today at UTSA. The official kickoff to the 2018-19 school year, Roadrunner Days, is a nine-day celebration on the Main and Downtown Campuses where new and current students experience fun, exciting events and activities to get acquainted with the UTSA community.
This year, UTSA welcomes new freshman and transfer students. They will take part in time-honored UTSA traditions, learn about valuable UTSA resources, meet new friends and make memories that will last a lifetime, all important foundations of the exceptional student experience UTSA fosters.
Here’s what’s going on Friday, Saturday and Sunday:
Residence Hall Move-In
Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., various residence halls, Main Campus
Thousands of excited students and their families will make themselves at home in UTSA’s residence halls. UTSA staff and student leaders will be on hand to help new Roadrunners every step of the way.
Welcome Back Party
Friday, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Student Union Paseo, Main Campus
After a full day of moving, students and their families can take a break and celebrate during this free event in the heart of campus. They will enjoy music, food, giveaways and meeting new friends. Stick around for this year’s premiere performance of the Spirit of San Antonio, UTSA’s marching band.
Quest @ the John Peace Library
Saturday, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. John Peace Library, Main Campus
Explore the library and discover all the helpful resources the library offers. Bring some friends or join a group. Those who finish the quest have a chance to win prizes. Ice cream will be served while supplies last.
Fast Action Trivia
Saturday, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Student Union Retama Auditorium (SU 2.02.02), Main Campus
What animal was almost the UTSA mascot? What’s the meaning behind all those hearts on the Downtown Campus? Test your UTSA knowledge and learn some other interesting facts about the university for a chance to win some cash.
Late Night at the Rec
Saturday, 9 p.m. to 12 a.m., Recreation and Wellness Center, Main Campus
One of the most popular events of Roadrunner Days, new students do not want to miss out on Late Night at the Rec. The UTSA tradition transforms a standard information session into a night of fun. In between games of basketball and dodgeball, rock climbing and dancing, students can learn about the Campus Rec amenities, wellness programs, clubs sports and more offered at the Main and Downtown Campuses.
Personalized Class Location Tours
Sunday, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Student Union Ski Lodge (SU 1.01.00), Main Campus
Students will become a pro at navigating campus after getting a personalized tour from one of UTSA’s many friendly Ambassadors. Bring your schedule to the Ski Lodge and they will help you find the way to classes and maybe even show you a few shortcuts.
Kickback at the Union
Sunday, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Student Union Paseo and Buildings, Main Campus
It’s been a busy weekend. Now it’s time to kick back, relax and have fun. This annual UTSA favorite includes free food, games, a photo booth and free t-shirts to those who arrive early. Students will also have the opportunity to connect with the many departments in the Union that provide support and make your time at UTSA successful.
UCinema
Sunday, 10 p.m., Student Union Retama Auditorium (SU 2.02.02), Main Campus
Following Kickback at the Union, grab some friends and head inside the beautiful Retama Auditorium to enjoy a special free screening of Avengers: Infinity War.
Students will need to check into all Roadrunner Days events using Event Pass on their mobile device. To do so, simply log in to RowdyLink, click on profile and download event pass using Apple Wallet, Google Play or screenshot. Saving the event pass makes checking into campus events quick and easy. In many cases, students will need their event pass or abc123 to get free swag, food and shirts at events.

Covidence is a systematic & scoping review tool used to streamline the process of screening and reviewing articles. Using this software, research teams can easily import studies, perform automatic deduplication, and extract data using templates. This workshop will show attendees how to start a review in Covidence, add collaborators, and get started on screening.
Virtual (Zoom)In this workshop, attendees will be introduced to Pandas, a Python tool for working with data easily. It makes it simple to organize and analyze information when data is organized and categorized, like spreadsheets or tables.
Group Spot B, John Peace LibraryEach fall and spring semester, students convene at the Main Campus at UTSA with booths, ideas and prototypes. A crowd of judges, local organizations, students, faculty and sponsors walk around and talk to the students about their projects and ask questions. Students get the real-life experience of "pitching" their project with hopes of getting funding or support to move to the next level.
