(June 17, 2019) -- It’s the biggest week of the summer for UTSA summer camps with 14 different camps hosting kids and teens from across the city, ready to engage and learn in a fun environment.
UTSA camps cover every interest—from science, engineering and architecture to sports, music and writing. Each camp offers kids and teens a place to try something new while having fun and experiencing life on a college campus.

Throughout the summer, UTSA hosts half-day and full-day sessions at the Main and Downtown Campuses. Some last a few days while others extend a week or two.
This week’s camps include:
Engineering Summer Camp
This exciting and interactive camp for high school students will teach engineering design and problem solving approaches using out of the box thinking. The camp will have interactive workshops, hands-on challenges, tours, panels and competitions.
STREAMsation
Campers in grades 1 - 8 will use modern and ancient technology to participate in hands-on activities to explore and expand their understanding of science, technology, reading/language arts, engineering, art and mathematics. This week, campers will be introduced to and gain an appreciation to geological processes and formations that occur naturally.
Summer Career Academy in Architecture and Interior Design
This two-week camp introduces high school and college students and adults to the careers and education of architects and interior designers. Campers will gain hands-on insight from UTSA's world-renowned faculty and find out if interior design or architecture are right for them.
Girl CodeRunners
This free camp for female middle school students includes hands-on activitites to help them explore and expand their understanding of webpage design using HyperText Markup Language (HTML), Animation, gaming, storytelling using SCRATCH and Robotics using LEGO Mindstorm EV3.
Performing Arts Camp
This intensive workshop style camp is for students interested in the performing arts - both onstage and behind the scenes. Students will receive instruction in acting, voice, dance, theatre history, music theory, costuming and stage properties. The camp culminates with a performance on the final evening.
Summer Band Institute
Middle and high school school musicians will focus on developing their musical and playing techniques. Campers will perform with one of UTSA's concert bands and attend classes that include rehearsals, sectional and master classes and performing soundtrack music.
Men’s Basketball Day Camp
This camp for 1st through 9th graders focuses on fundamentals of the game and is designed to be a fun learning experience. The camp features great teaching from UTSA players and coaches as well as daily competitions and games.
Women’s Basketball Advanced Camp
This intense and structured one-day camp for high school girls is like experiencing a UTSA Women’s Basketball practice.
Soccer Camps
Roadrunner youth soccer camps provide valuable instruction for players in 1st through 7th grades of all skill levels. Campers are divided by age and ability to assure each player improves technically and tactically.
Softball Camps
Prospective student-athletes in 7th grade and up will be put through our Division I college practice experience. Campers will put through a series of infield, outfield and offensive drills as well as game-like situations. Hitters and pitchers will face live at bats during camp. The one-day youth camp for 5th grade and under teaches campers the fundamentals of the game.
Tennis Camps
UTSA Tennis coaching staff and members of the Tennis Team hosts weekly camps for beginners ages 6 to 11 and junior players in middle school. They’ll learn the basics and work on fine tuning skills they already have on the court.
Young Writer's Camp
Emerging and fluent writers can practice and refine their writing skills, share with others and grow as artisans and thinkers. Each day, students will investigate the art of writing, apply the craft to their own writing, and celebrate what they have done with fellow campers.
Roadrunner Readers Program
The tutoring sessions are designed to help children in 2nd-8th grades who are reading below grade level. Tutors identify the child's strengths and needs and create highly engaging literacy experiences designed to support literacy growth and development.

UTSA Recital HallPressbooks is an open educational resource authoring platform for simple book publishing. Upon completion of the Pressbooks Basic workshop attendees will be able to: create a new book, clone an existing book, remix chapters from a variety of different Creative Commons licensed books, add media and other content to a book, export a book in a wide range of formats.
Virtual EventJoin Community-Engaged Digital Scholarship Hub (CEDISH) and the Digital Humanities Student Association (DHSO) at UTSA for an enlightening workshop on "Responsible Datasets in Context," sponsored by the Mozilla Foundation. Participants will gain insights into creating contextually rich datasets, developing data essays, and crafting effective visualizations.
