JANUARY 23, 2020 — As the new College for Health, Community and Policy prepares to begin enrolling students in fall 2020, Interim Dean Lloyd Potter has announced the interim administrators who will guide the college through its beginning stages while a national search for the founding dean is conducted.
Alberto Cordova will serve as interim associate dean for undergraduate student success. Cordova, associate professor in the former Department of Kinesiology, Health and Nutrition, previously served as assistant dean for student success of the College of Education and Human Development.
Criminal justice professor Rob Tillyer will serve as interim associate dean for graduate student success. Tillyer has served as associate dean for research excellence and student success in the College of Public Policy since 2015.

Erica Sosa, associate professor in the former Department of Kinesiology, Health and Nutrition, will serve as interim associate dean for research. Sosa is codirector of the Center for Community Based and Applied Health Research and is an inaugural fellow in the Advancing Next-Gen Faculty Leadership Fellow Program, which was launched by Academic Affairs in 2019.
In addition to the interim associate dean appointments, interim chairs have been named for two new departments that are being created from the former Department of Kinesiology, Health and Nutrition as part of the restructuring. Sara Oswalt, who will serve as interim chair for the new Department of Public Health, has served as chair of the Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Nutrition since 2017.
Wan Yao will serve as interim chair for the new Department of Kinesiology. Yao previously served as chair of the Department of Kinesiology, Health, and Nutrition from 2008 to 2014 and as director of the East Asia Institute from 2014 to 2019.
Finally, Sandra Morissette has been named interim chair of the Department of Psychology. Morissette joined UTSA in 2015 and served as associate dean for research in the College of Liberal and Fine Arts since 2018.
“We were fortunate to have a group of extremely well-qualified individuals who were willing to serve, and I am grateful to each of these individuals for their leadership during this transition,” Potter said. “We do indeed have very talented and committed faculty members in our new college who are ready to contribute even more than they already do every day.”

UTSA Downtown CampusArchaeology 201 will briefly go over the foundations of archaeology and related skills, followed by a different topic over the course of this week (like skeletal analysis, global cultures, and more).
