FEBRUARY 4, 2020 — With the Texas primary elections less than a month away UTSA and the Council on Foreign Relations will cohost Election 2020: U.S. Foreign Policy Forum. This nonpartisan event will be held Wednesday, Feb. 12.
The forum will feature former government officials from Republican and Democratic administrations discussing issues central to U.S. national security, especially those that are of particular interest to San Antonio.
UTSA is one of only four universities in the nation that was chosen to cohost a forum with the Council on Foreign Relations leading up to the 2020 caucuses and primaries.

Forum panelists include Richard N. Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations and former special assistant to George H.W. Bush; Stephen J. Hadley, former national security adviser to George W. Bush; Jeh Charles Johnson, former secretary of homeland security to Barack Obama; and Mary Beth Long, former assistant secretary of defense to George W. Bush.
“As Americans choose their next president, CFR can serve as a resource to help them understand the international issues at stake in the election,” Haass said in a press release. “[This event] will offer informed analysis of the global forces shaping our world today and how those issues affect citizens where they live.”

The conversation will delve into several critical foreign policy challenges facing the primary and general election candidates, such as how the U.S. should manage relations with Iran, how a trade war with China will affect the economy, how a U.S.-Mexico-Canada agreement might benefit American workers, and how the situation in Venezuela can be improved.
The forum will be moderated by Margaret E. Talev, White House and politics editor for Axios and a political analyst for CNN.
The forum will be 7–8:30 p.m. in the Student Union, Retama Auditorium (SU 2.02.02), on UTSA’s Main Campus. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The forum is free and open to the public, but all guests are asked to register online in advance. Parking will be available in the Ximenes Avenue Garage, located between the Student Union and Applied Engineering & Technology Building.

Virtual (Zoom)In this workshop, attendees will be introduced to Pandas, a Python tool for working with data easily. It makes it simple to organize and analyze information when data is organized and categorized, like spreadsheets or tables.
Group Spot B, John Peace LibraryEach fall and spring semester, students convene at the Main Campus at UTSA with booths, ideas and prototypes. A crowd of judges, local organizations, students, faculty and sponsors walk around and talk to the students about their projects and ask questions. Students get the real-life experience of "pitching" their project with hopes of getting funding or support to move to the next level.
