APRIL 17, 2020 — It’s that time again, Roadrunners. Time to celebrate the fantastic achievements within our faculty and staff community at the 2020 University Excellence Awards ceremony. The program will feature our university’s leadership, including President Taylor Eighmy, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Kimberly Andrews Espy, Vice President for Inclusive Excellence Myron Anderson and Vice President for Business Affairs Veronica Mendez, announcing the winners through virtual streaming of the ceremony on April 21 at 4 p.m.
This year’s ceremony also includes an exciting new feature—a live announcement of all award winners. All categories of the University Excellence Awards have been evaluated through their respective nomination review committees: Presidential Faculty Award selection committees coordinated through the provost’s office, Distinguished Diversity Award committee coordinated through the inclusive excellence office and the University Excellence Staff Award committees coordinated by Staff Senate. The University Excellence Awards Program is overseen and managed through a committee with representatives from areas throughout the university. A full list of this year’s nominees can be seen below.
In addition to the traditional UEAP categories, Staff Senate would like to offer additional recognition for staff who have gone above and beyond during this COVID-19 time. To nominate a staff member or department for recognition of exceptional service during our transition to work-from-home, please fill out the short survey using the link for Rowdy Remote Recognition. The nomination period for recognition during the University Excellence Awards ceremony will be open until end-of-day Monday; however, Rowdy Remote Recognition will continue on a monthly basis as long as the university continues to operate remotely.
Following a similar format as the virtual town hall meetings, the entire UTSA community is invited to watch from home this year and join in the celebration to cheer on our stellar faculty and staff through the chat feature live during the event. Award statuettes and Years of Service certificates and pins will be available for pickup when employees return to campus.
