After graduating from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis and interning at the Harris County Public Defender’s Office, Menefee began his legal practice which included advising the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, advising immigrants and their families, and working with Texas Appleseed on expanding alternatives to involuntary commitment for the mentally ill.
Menefee has served on Houston’s Independent Police Oversight Board, which is charged with evaluating all Houston Police Department internal affairs investigations involving excessive force or the use of a firearm. “Christian was an active and impactful student leader while at UTSA, and we are excited to welcome him back to help us commemorate Black History Month,” said LT Robinson, senior vice provost for student affairs and dean of students.
