MARCH 29, 2022 — Several UTSA graduate programs earned top 100 spots in the U.S. News and World Report’s 2023 Best Graduate Schools rankings. This year’s placements demonstrate UTSA’s dedication to student success and research excellence.
The U.S. News and World Report collected statistical survey data from more than 2,150 programs and reputation survey data from more than 23,000 academics and professionals.
The Margie and Bill Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design earned several accolades from the annual rankings list. The college took the No. 82 spot for biomedical engineering, No. 89 for environmental engineering, No. 99 for electrical engineering, and No. 99 for mechanical engineering.
The UTSA Klesse College’s interdisciplinary structure and hands-on, experiential learning-focused curricula produce engineers and design professionals ready to make their mark on the world. The college's academic programs are built on a foundational commitment to identifying and solving grand challenges where humanity intersects with the physical world.
The publication also recognized the Carlos Alvarez College of Business—ranking the school’s statistics program 79th among other programs in the U.S., up from last year’s ranking of 97th.
The Alvarez College’s STEM-designated M.S. in Statistics and Data Science program trains data scientists in a broad range of applied statistical methods and computational tools to prepare students to enter the workforce in the high-demand data analytics field. Coursework includes instruction in designing experiments, statistical modeling, making predictions and forecasts and analyzing complex data sets.
The UTSA College for Health, Community and Policy (HCaP) earned No. 79 spot for its social work studies. HCaP’s social work program strives to create a community of learners that will make a significant difference in the lives of people in San Antonio and across the country. The faculty seek to transform students’ perspectives, so they in turn can facilitate the transformation of individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities.
Each year, U.S. News ranks graduate school programs in business, education, engineering, law, medicine and nursing, including specialties in each area. The publication scored all six programs using statistical indicators: inputs, or measures of the qualities that students and faculty bring to the educational experience; and outputs, or measures of graduates' achievements linked to their degrees.
