SEPTEMBER 15, 2023 — The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is proud to announce a vibrant and culturally enriching lineup of programs in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, which is recognized nationally from September 15 to October 15. This annual celebration pays tribute to the rich history, traditions and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities in the United States. This year UTSA has selected the theme “Hispanic Heritage Month: Prosperity, Power and Progress.”
UTSA’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration will feature an array of events that showcase the diverse cultural heritage of Hispanic communities. Lectures, workshops, a game night and festivals hosted by departments from all parts of campus will take place throughout the month and offer students, faculty, staff and the San Antonio community plenty of opportunities to engage through the university.
UTSA has always been committed to fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity, and this year's Hispanic Heritage Month programming is a testament to that commitment. The university's extensive lineup of events, workshops, performances and discussions promises to engage, educate and entertain students, faculty, staff and the public.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the university’s very own street fair, Calle UTSA. Attendees will enjoy activities, performances, food, music and piñatas to break open. Free to UTSA students, faculty and staff.
UTSA Orchestra – Rapsodia Mexicana

The UTSA Orchestra blends cultural traditions with the power of a full symphony to celebrate Mexican music and the confluence of cultures in South Texas. Ballet Nepantla (New York) presents a free performance of their show, Mística, in the UTSA Recital Hall as part of UTSA Art’s En Vivo guest artist concert series. The show celebrates the creative and spiritual energies of indigenous, Afro, and Hispanic roots. It commemorates traditions of Día De Muertos and transports the audience into the afterlife using blacklight and Ballet Nepantla’s unique fusion of ballet folklorico and contemporary dance.
