DECEMBER 13, 2023 — UTSA Interim Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Heather Shipley today announced a national search for the new dean of the Margie and Bill Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design (Klesse College). The dean additionally will hold the David and Jennifer Spencer Distinguished Chair.
College of Liberal and Fine Arts Dean Glenn Martínez will chair the search advisory committee. Alberto Pimentel of national search firm SP&A Executive Search will assist UTSA.
“In the search for the next dean of Klesse College, we are seeking a leader with a passion for transformative education, a proven track record in interdisciplinary research and a commitment to equipping students with the skills needed to excel in a rapidly evolving professional landscape,” said Shipley. “The chosen candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of engineering and design education at UTSA and, accordingly, will envision a future where innovation in engineering and design drives societal progress.”
The College of Engineering and Integrated Design was formed in 2021 following a yearlong initiative to combine academic departments and programs previously under the College of Engineering and the College of Architecture, Construction and Planning to optimally position the university on the cutting edge of transdisciplinary research, academic programming and workforce preparation for students.
Later that year, the college was named for former Valero CEO and Chairman of the Board, Bill Klesse and his wife, Margie, in recognition of a transformational $20 million gift.
Home to over 4,200 students and nearly 150 faculty members, Klesse College is San Antonio’s leader for engineering and designed environment research and instruction. With experiential learning opportunities that cover internships, special projects, study abroad and community partnerships, students learn to collaborate across multiple disciplines to understand how to connect the vision to the outcome.With around-the-clock access to the 17,000-square-foot Makerspace, students are encouraged to learn, create, test and innovate at their own pace through access to this supportive and collaborative environment.

Using this software, research teams can easily import studies, perform automatic deduplication, and extract data using templates. This workshop will show attendees how to start a review in Covidence, add collaborators, and get started on screening.
Virtual (Zoom)In this workshop, attendees will be introduced to Pandas, a Python tool for working with data easily. It makes it simple to organize and analyze information when data is organized and categorized, like spreadsheets or tables.
Group Spot B, John Peace LibraryEach fall and spring semester, students convene at the Main Campus at UTSA with booths, ideas and prototypes. A crowd of judges, local organizations, students, faculty and sponsors walk around and talk to the students about their projects and ask questions. Students get the real-life experience of "pitching" their project with hopes of getting funding or support to move to the next level.
