AUGUST 16, 2024 — August heralds the return of Roadrunner Days, a vibrant celebration that ushers in the new academic year with a focus on connection and community. Beginning on Friday, August 23, and ending on Saturday, September 7, Roadrunner Days immerses new and returning students in the rich culture, traditions, and values of UTSA.
Roadrunner Days offers an extensive lineup of events, seminars and socials that will help students develop a sense of belonging, encourage them to meet new people and introduce them to the myriad resources available at UTSA.
This year, Roadrunner Days begins with Move in Week, which runs from Tuesday, August 20, through Saturday, August 24. Making its debut this semester is the Block Party, an opportunity for residents to get to know each other and ring in the new semester with music, games, balloon animals and caricature portraits. The party will run from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, August 23, in the multipurpose room and on the lawn of Guadalupe Hall.

Late Night at the Rec will take place from 9 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, to midnight on Sunday, August 25. Students will enjoy an evening filled with fun, games, giveaways, and an introduction to UTSA's recreation programs, wellness facilities, and club sports organizations. This event is a perfect opportunity for students to mingle, dance, compete, and build new friendships in a lively setting.
Late Night at the RecFrom Sunday, August 25, through Saturday, August 31, Roadrunner Days will focus on the student-to-student connections that lay the foundation for a supportive network that enhances the university experience. The festivities begin with the traditional late-night dance party, Midnight Light, from 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, to midnight on Monday, August 26, at the Monuments on the UTSA Main Campus. Students will enjoy snow cones and a stage program, including a drone show that will add a spectacular visual element to the celebration.
Another highlight of the week is the Howdy Rowdy Bash. From 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, August 30, students will gather at Six Flags Fiesta Texas to enjoy rides, games and a DJ/Foam party. The event offers a thrilling off-campus experience, fostering camaraderie and creating unforgettable memories for all attendees.
The final week, which begins Sunday, September 1, and concludes on Saturday, September 7, will focus on connecting students to the university services and resources that will help students succeed academically and personally. Among the events of the week is Kickback at the Union, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3 at the Student Union Paseo and first floor. Students will learn about the services available at the Student Union. They will also can also visit with staff from the all the offices, enjoy some food and live music and relax.
Students will have the chance to learn more about the UTSA Career Center at the PT Job Fair & Career Center Resource Expo from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Student Union, first and second floors. Roadrunners can also connect with more than 30 employers and learn more about their part-time job opportunities.

UTSA Recital HallPressbooks is an open educational resource authoring platform for simple book publishing. Upon completion of the Pressbooks Basic workshop attendees will be able to: create a new book, clone an existing book, remix chapters from a variety of different Creative Commons licensed books, add media and other content to a book, export a book in a wide range of formats.
Virtual EventJoin Community-Engaged Digital Scholarship Hub (CEDISH) and the Digital Humanities Student Association (DHSO) at UTSA for an enlightening workshop on "Responsible Datasets in Context," sponsored by the Mozilla Foundation. Participants will gain insights into creating contextually rich datasets, developing data essays, and crafting effective visualizations.
