VIA Transportation Options at UTSA

UTSA and VIA partner to provide a variety of convenient options to travel between campus and around San Antonio. From the VIA U-Pass program to VIA Link Mainland and VIA Link Downtown, Roadrunners can access safe, easy and free transportation.

VIA U-Pass

VIA U-Pass provides free, unlimited bus rides throughout San Antonio. U-Pass is available for free to all current UTSA students, faculty and staff.

To access and use your U-Pass:

Download the VIA goMobile+ If you do not have a smartphone, contact Campus Services for instructions.
Create an account using your UTSA email address.
Once signed in, your U-Pass will appear within a few minutes and is ready for use.
Open your U-Pass in the app and show it to the operator when boarding the bus.

VIA Link

VIA Link is an on-demand ride-sharing program that allows customers to request a VIA Link passenger van for a ride anywhere within the corresponding VIA Link Zone. Service is free for UTSA students, faculty and staff with their U-Pass.

The VIA Link Mainland Zone provides service near the Main Campus and is available seven days a week from 5 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Within this zone, you can easily access the new College Park H-E-B at 7330 N Loop 1604 West.
The VIA Link Downtown Zone provides service throughout the downtown San Antonio area and is available seven days a week from 7 a.m.-11 p.m. As part of the Downtown Zone, The Little Runner provides service between the Downtown Campus and San Pedro I. Learn more.

Roadrunner Express

The Roadrunner Express (VIA Route 93) provides service between the Main and Downtown campuses. Look for the Roadrunner Express at the Campus Oval bus stop on the Main Campus. At the Downtown Campus, board the bus at the Frio Street bus stop. For more information, download the Roadrunner Express schedule.

Traveling Between Campuses

Traveling between UTSA campuses is easy with VIA. Explore options, including bus routes and travel times, below.

Main Campus Downtown Campus

To travel from the Main Campus to the Downtown Campus, use VIA’s Roadrunner Express (Route 93). Board the bus at the Campus Oval on the Main Campus. Disembark at the Downtown Campus – Buena Vista stop. Approximate travel time is 34 minutes.

Downtown Campus Main Campus

To travel from the Downtown Campus to the Main Campus, use VIA’s Roadrunner Express (Route 93). Board the bus at the Downtown Campus – Frio Street bus stop. Disembark at the Campus Oval on the Main Campus. Approximate travel time is 38 minutes.

Downtown Campus Southwest Campus

To travel from the Downtown Campus to the Southwest Campus, you can use the VIA Link Downtown Zone, requesting a VIA Link van to transport you to the Southwest Campus.

Alternately, you can use VIA’s bus service on route 17/96. Be aware that this route includes a transfer from Route 17 to Route 96. Board the bus at the Downtown Campus – Buena Vista bus stop. Disembark at the Southwest Campus. Approximate travel time is 20 minutes.

Southwest Campus Downtown Campus

To travel from the Southwest Campus to the Downtown Campus, you can use the VIA Link Downtown Zone, requesting a VIA Link van to transport you to the Downtown Campus.

Alternately, you can use VIA’s bus service on route 3. Board the bus at the Southwest Campus. Disembark at the Centro Plaza bus stop, which includes a two-block walk to campus. Approximate travel time is 13 minutes.

Downtown Campus San Pedro I

To travel from the Downtown Campus to San Pedro I, use The Little Runner. Look for “The Little Runner Stops Here” signs and book a ride using the VIA goMobile+ app. Approximate travel time is 5 minutes.

Getting to One Riverwalk Place

From Main Campus

Option 1 - Route through the Downtown Campus

Board VIA's Roadrunner Express (Route 93) at the Campus Oval on the north side of the Main Campus.
Once it reaches the Downtown Campus, continue on VIA Route 17 to the Market and Navarro stop.
Transfer to Route 96 at the Navarro and Villita stop.
Disembark at the Southwest Campus. One Riverwalk Place is a short walk away.

Option 2 - Direct Route to One Riverwalk Place

Board VIA's Roadrunner Express (Route 93) at the Campus Oval on the north side of the Main Campus.
Transfer to Route 3 at Leona & Martin.
Disembark at Navarro & Auditorium Circle. One Riverwalk Place is a short walk away.

From Downtown Campus

Use the VIA Link mobile app to request a ride to One Riverwalk Place.

Walking + Biking

One Riverwalk Place is a short, easy walk from the Southwest Campus or a 10-minute bike ride from the Downtown Campus. Bike racks are available at the One Riverwalk Place garage.
