Office of the President

Welcome

Welcome to The University of Texas at San Antonio, one of the fastest growing public universities in Texas and a proud component of The University of Texas System.

The 2007-2008 academic year brings a record number of students to our growing campuses. Amid this atmosphere of vibrant growth, UTSA remains dedicated to our mission of access and opportunity for all Texans, and to our vision of becoming the state's next premier public university.

UTSA's nearly 29,000 students attend class on two academic campuses. The 1604 Campus, located on the edge of the Texas Hill Country, offers students a traditional college experience. The 725-acre campus features academic and administrative buildings, athletics facilities, on-campus housing and onsite childcare for students, staff and faculty members.

The 11-acre UTSA Downtown Campus serves more than 6,000 students. This campus offers the same quality academic experience and student services as our 1604 Campus but in the very heart of San Antonio. Both campuses are virtually linked through distance learning classrooms.

UTSA's Institute of Texan Cultures, located near San Antonio's famed River Walk, is a unique museum and educational center that features exhibits on the cultural history and traditions of Texas.

UTSA offers 126 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in eight colleges, including an Honors College and a Graduate School. More degrees are in the planning stages.

UTSA is committed to every student's success in school and in life. Offering programs that promote the importance of developing knowledge, building leadership skills and participating in school activities helps students make the most of their college education.

As UTSA's fifth president, I want to thank you for your cyber-visit and to invite you to experience the real thing by visiting us in San Antonio. In the meantime, I welcome your comments and questions about UTSA. You can reach me online at president@utsa.edu.

Sincerely,
Ricardo Romo
