EXECUTIVE DIVISION
What we do:
The Executive Division is responsible for leading the department towards the fulfillment of its mission. It brings the commanding officers of all the divisions to formulate the leadership team. That team meets weekly to discuss crime trends and other department issues to ensure that the needs of all of our customers are met.
Assistant Chief of Police
Assistant Chief Daniel Pena attended The University of Texas System Police Academy, in1980. He moved up the ranks within the UTSA PD from detective, to Investigations Sergeant, to Investigations Lieutenant, to Administrative Captain. He was promoted to Assistant Chief in 2001. Assistant Chief Pena has attended the FBI National Academy, 165th session - Quantico, Virginia, in 1991 and the American Crime Prevention Institute: Crime Prevention through Environmental Design - Advanced Specialist in 2003. Assistant Chief Pena has a Bachelor of Science degree from Wayland Baptist University - San Antonio, Texas: in Criminal Justice (2002). The Assistant Chief of Police is responsible for managing police operations and personnel to effectively provide a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
