Research

Brain Health Consortium investigators perform research across four pillars:

The Brain Health Consortium currently includes multiple research topics on brain health, including neurodegenerative disease, functional connections between circuits, and a focus on perception, attention, and memory. More recently, the BHC has expanded its research into pluripotent stem cell research and personalized medicine, using CRISPR technology. Additional groups at UTSA are focused on regenerative medicine, stem cell therapies, medicinal chemistry, drug design, neuroinflammation and the use of data analytics to study the pathophysiology, epidemiology, diagnosis and potential treatment of diseases or debilitations impacting brain health.
