Gregory PeyerThis week, Business Affairs mourns the loss of a long-time team member. Gregory Peyer, known for his dedicated work with UTSA Real Estate and Property Management on the Facilities team, passed away due to health complications following a long illness.

Greg was a valued Roadrunner staff member for over 18 years, from 2006 until his recent retirement in October 2024. Throughout his career at UTSA, he helped keep our campuses beautiful by caring for landscaping and interior plants, first as a grounds maintenance worker, and later as a physical plant service team member.

Many will remember Greg as the kind face who regularly stopped by office suites and other locations on campus, expertly maintaining the plants that bring life to our interior spaces. He also arranged beautiful plant and greenery displays for commencement ceremonies and other special campus events and important celebrations. Well known for his outstanding customer service and can-do attitude, Greg often received praise for his friendly personality and commitment to his work.

“Greg was a one-of-a-kind person, and as far as I can tell, I will never meet another like him,” said UTSA Facilities’ Samuel Barrera, Greg’s former supervisor. “He was one of the most genuine individuals I knew and had the kindest heart. He was always thinking about others and could always put a smile on my face. I will miss working beside him.”

Greg brought light and positivity to the workplace, leaving a lasting impression on those he worked with and the campus he cared for. On behalf of Business Affairs, we thank him for all he did for UTSA.
