Frost Bank has partnered with UTSA since 1988 to provide business-related initiatives to the Carlos Alvarez College of Business students. With this long-standing partnership in place, the Pat and Tom Frost Foundation and supporters of Frost Bank established The Frost Finance Endowed Chair in the Carlos Alvarez College of Business in 2013. The endowed position supports educational efforts and research in finance.

Frost Finance Endowed Distinguished Professorship in the Carlos Alvarez College of Business

Professor, Finance

Palani-Rajan Kadapakkam is a corporate finance, investments and international finance scholar whose primary research analyzes issues related to corporate finance. Currently, he is examining the impact of tax changes on stock prices, and corporate investment and financing decisions. Past studies examine sources of merger synergies, Dutch auction stock repurchases, impact of stock splits, calls of convertible securities and ex-dividend stock price behavior. He teaches a variety of finance courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. 

Kadapakkam’s research has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Business, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Financial Management and the Journal of Banking and Finance. 

Prior to joining UTSA in 1996, Kadapakkam served on the faculty of American University and the University of Houston. 

He received his Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, a PGDBA (equivalent to MBA) from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedahad, and his bachelor’s in chemistry from Loyola College in Chennai, India.
