JULY 11, 2024 — Former UTSA student-athlete Kendall Kloza ’22 earned her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and exercise science while breaking records as a top athlete for Roadrunner Women’s Soccer. As the team captain during the 2022 season, she led her team to a conference championship, earning the title of Conference USA Defensive MVP. This caught the attention of medical device company, Boston Scientific, who was actively seeking exceptional student-athletes to join their team. Kendall received a job offer and joined the company as an associate territory manager in November 2023.
“I never imagined that my achievements on the soccer field would lead me to a career in the medical field. After initially hearing my name as the Conference Defensive MVP, my current boss did a simple Google search and found my Be Bold campaign article,” shared Kendall. “That article led him to reach out for an interview. Receiving his phone call was surreal. It demonstrates just how significant UTSA has been in shaping my life experiences.”
In addition to her team leadership and title, Kendall excelled on the soccer field, scoring eight career goals, five of which were game-winners, and providing seven career assists. She started 77 out of 78 games, accumulating a total of 5,752 minutes on the field. Kendall also earned several accolades thanks to her athletic distinction, including All C-USA Second Team and All-South Region First Team honors. Her academic excellence was also recognized, making her a three-time C-USA Academic Honor Roll recipient.
In her role at Boston Scientific, Kendall visits a designated number of hospitals across South Texas daily, based on the locations of ongoing cases and procedures and the needs of the attending doctors. Her responsibilities include working with doctors, staff, technicians, and nurses to sell, troubleshoot, and provide education, hands-on training, and support. Kendall attributes her ability to manage her time and effectively handle job pressures to the time-management skills she developed as a student-athlete. She also credits UTSA for equipping her to succeed in a challenging role, where she regularly faces high-pressure situations.
"High-pressure situations are where athletes thrive, and where I thrive too,” shared Kendall. “At UTSA, I developed essential qualities for success in life—hard work, dedication, and time management. I carry all these lessons with me and apply them in the real world.”
In addition to keeping up with a busy professional life, Kendall remains deeply connected to UTSA Athletics and soccer. She continues to play in a semi-pro summer league alongside her younger sister, who will join UTSA women’s soccer in the fall of 2024 and wear the same jersey number as Kendall. Her sister, inspired by Kendall’s great experience as a student-athlete, transferred to UTSA to continue the family legacy.
“UTSA is such a huge part of my life and my family’s lives. My sister coming in to continue the soccer legacy and help build the program is incredible,” expressed Kendall. “I am so happy for her because I already know how much of an amazing experience she is about to have as a Roadrunner and the opportunities she’s going to receive.”
Looking ahead, Kendall is a contender for the Associate Territory Manager of the Year award, an accolade she hopes to achieve in 2024. She is also committed to attending every UTSA soccer game to support both the program and her younger sister. Additionally, she actively engages with donors and connects Roadrunner student-athletes with companies or businesses for NIL opportunities. Her ultimate dream is to one day be inducted into the UTSA Athletics Hall of Fame.
