TxDOT Long-Term Closure Starts Feb. 17: I-10 Eastbound Frontage Road

As part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, TxDOT is closing the I-10 eastbound (EB) frontage road just south of Loop 1604 beginning Monday, Feb 17. Traffic will be unable to use this portion of the I-10 EB frontage road during the closure; however, businesses adjacent to the frontage road closure will be accessible via the back entry on Old Fredericksburg Road. This closure may impact travel times for those westbound on 1604 or southbound on I-10 planning to use the I-10 UTSA Boulevard exit when heading to the Main Campus.

This long-term closure is expected to continue through late spring 2025, weather permitting.

Detour Information

I-10 EB Frontage Road

All travelers on the I-10 EB frontage road continuing through the Loop 1604 interchange will be directed to:

1. Travel on the Loop 1604 westbound frontage road to the signalized turnaround at La Cantera Parkway.
2. Enter the Loop 1604 EB main lanes after La Cantera Parkway.
3. Follow the exit toward I-10 and stay in the right lane to enter I-10 EB.
4. Exit using exit 557 toward UTSA Boulevard to enter the I-10 EB frontage road.

Signage will be placed along detour routes to direct traffic.

Loop 1604 EB Frontage Road to I-10 EB Frontage Road

All travelers on the Loop 1604 EB frontage road looking to access I-10 EB frontage road will be directed to:

1. Enter the Loop 1604 EB main lanes after La Cantera Parkway.
2. Follow the exit toward I-10 and stay in the right lane to enter I-10 EB.
3. Exit utilizing exit 557 toward UTSA Boulevard to enter the I-10 EB frontage road.
