Support the Pantry

The Roadrunner Pantry relies on support from the community to help combat hunger and feed student success at UTSA. Meeting this basic need for students will help them focus on their path to graduation rather than finding their next meal. There are many ways to get involved and have an impact on the lives of UTSA students dealing with food insecurity.

Make a Gift

The Roadrunner Pantry accepts monetary donations to ensure food is always available for UTSA students. Our partnership with the San Antonio Food Bank helps us use these funds to purchase food to stock the pantry. Monetary donations enable food to be purchased at wholesale prices. For every $1 donated, we are able to provide 7 meals to students in need. Monetary donations can be made at any time through the UTSA Giving page.

High Demand Items

The Roadrunner Pantry welcomes all non-perishable, non-expired food items and personal hygiene items. Please keep non-perishable food items separate from non-food items. View the list of High Demand Items to find what items are needed most by Roadrunners.

Item donations can be dropped off at the Roadrunner Pantry during operating hours or at the Donation Station located in the Student Union outside The UPS Store any time that the building is open.

For an even easier way to donate, visit the Whataburger Resource Room Amazon Wish List and easily add food and other items to your order the next time you shop.

Swipe Out Hunger

Campus Services and UTSA Dining have partnered with the Roadrunner Pantry to Swipe Out Hunger. Swipe Out Hunger is an ongoing national campaign to end food insecurity among students.

The Swipe Drive enables students with extra meal swipes or dining dollars to donate up to 2 meals to their peers, per academic year. UTSA Dining will generously match all swipes during The Swipe Drive. Drives are scheduled for October and March to benefit the Meal Share Program for the Roadrunner Pantry. For more information about this program, visit Campus Services and UTSA Dining.

To request a meal, complete the online application and allow up to 24 hours to receive a response.

Host a Food Drive

Food drives are a great way to pool resources to make a larger impact. Hosting a food drive at your next event, or within your department or student organization, will help raise awareness and much needed items for the pantry.

The pantry team will drop off donation bins, pick them up and weigh your donations at the end of your drive.

Email RoadrunnerPantry@utsa.edu for guidance and tips on setting up a successful food drive.

Grad Gown Giving Project

Help another UTSA student celebrate their achievement and consider donating your UTSA graduation gown to the Grad Gown Giving Project after Commencement. The Roadrunner Pantry accepts UTSA navy blue undergraduate and graduate gown donations that will be given to a student in need. Donating your gown is a great way to give back to the UTSA community after graduation.

Donations may be dropped off at the Whataburger Resource Room on the Main and Downtown campuses during operating hours, or you can coordinate a drop-off time by email at RoadrunnerPantry@utsa.edu.

Volunteer

Committed community volunteers are essential in the fight against hunger. Volunteer duties may include sorting, stocking, cleaning, organizing, loading/unloading vehicles, and more.

If you are interested in getting involved as a volunteer, sign up for a date on RowdyLink or send an email to RoadrunnerPantry@utsa.edu for more information.
