Services for People with Disabilities

Several services are available to guests attending commencement ceremonies who may require specific accommodations because of a disability.

Accommodations for guests who are deaf or hard of hearing:

Sign language interpreting services for guests who are deaf or hard of hearing will be available in a reserved seating section.

Accommodations for those with limited mobility:

If you are in a wheelchair, Convention Center staff will provide assistance to take you to and from your seat. Additionally, Convention Center staff will have wheelchairs available to assist in transporting guests with limited mobility to their seats. Reserved seating is marked for those requiring wheelchair-seating accommodations and for those with limited mobility at the top of the plaza level of the Convention Center.

Following the ceremony, Convention Center staff will also assist guests in returning to the exits. These wheelchairs are available for assisted transport only and are not available for use by individual guests for the duration of the ceremony. Guests with limited mobility may enter at the south entrance plaza level of the Convention Center.

Due to high demand and limited space, the reserved seating area is restricted to the person with the disability and a max of 3 guests. Additional members of your party should sit in regular public seating areas.

Wheelchair Assistance

If you are in a wheelchair, assistance will be available to take you to and from your seat. Wheelchairs will be provided by the Convention Center (not UTSA). Disabled guests may enter at the south entrance and plaza level of the Convention Center.
