2008 Ithuba Activities

A South Africa Site Visit was conducted on January 7th- 11th 2008; Material development and administrative activities on the trip included implementation evaluation instrument development with READ and work with Art Director Vusi Malindi.  Tasks were defined and the office was set-up within DOE for Program Coordinator, Angeline Mdluli.

  • A Meeting with the Program Advisory Committee was held on January 8, 2008. Topics included:
  • Approval of USAID/South Africa for no cost extension
  • Update on the MOU
  • Update on the Alliance Meeting in December 2007 and determining the sustainability of Ithuba Writing Project in the provinces
  • Additional 20 titles and guidelines for Target Workshops
  • Transcribing print materials to Braille

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

January, February and March began the Language Editing of 34 titles.  Editors received copies of the books in Home Language and in English. Editors made any editorial changes.  All content changes were referred to UTSA. Working Finals were then sent to PAC Working Forum Bid for Bookstands and were purchased for the distribution in March 2008.
