2007 Ithuba Activities--cont.

In February the TLMP held a Partner’s Workshop. The workshop was held in Old Town Alexandria by USAID. The purpose of the Partner’s Workshop was to share information with the other TLMP Universities and African Countries, improve collaboration strategies with host country, and give all parties a chance to address challenges and opportunities.

In March a meeting was held with Dr. Leketi Makalela from the University of Limpopo to discuss an Agreement of Cooperation.  A Research Agreement was agreed to be drafted and to be entered into between UTSA and University of Limpopo. Dr. Makalela visited San Antonio in April to further draft the scope of work and budget.

Workshop #2, Drafting and Revising Stories, was held in March.  It was conducted in Polokwani by Motleno and Gauteng by READ. The workshop was prepared, smooth, well timed and explanations and support were clear.  The stories are to continue to move forward towards publication.

Pilot field testing was held in March and field testing Teacher Guides was held in May.  Ten members of the TLMP traveled to South Africa to conduct the testing. The DOE selected the sites for field testing and teacher guides and ten lesson plans were field tested.

Rough Illustration were created in June and July. Vusi Malindi and his team directed illustrators and began rough illustrations and at the second half of Workshop #3 made revisions on illustrations.
