About the UTSA Orientation Leader (OL) Position

Compensation and Benefits

  • $11.50 per hour
  • Lunch provided during orientation programming days (as available)

Time Commitment

Our Orientation Leaders will be scheduled up to 30 hours based on the orientation program schedule and program preparation. OLs are neither allowed to be dually appointed with another UTSA department, nor allowed to take summer courses within the UT System. Please note, all OLs may have the week of July 4th off depending on the orientation program schedule.

Application Process

  1. Review Become an OL website with job requirements, OL timeline, and 2024-2025 Orientation Leader Job Description for important details about the position and process
  2. Attend the OL Info Sessions on October 3rd and October 17th (RSVP on RowdyLink) to mingle with former OLs and learn more about the experience (optional).
  3. Submit your job application by October 25th at 5:00pm
  4. Complete an in-person individual interview with the Orientation and Family Programs staff.
  5. If offered a position, submit the OL Decision Form (accept or decline) by November 1st at 5:00 pm
  6. If accepting the OL position, attend OL Meet & Greet on November 5th (time TBD).

Requirements

  • Maintain at least a 2.25 GPA in both UTSA cumulative and semester
  • Attend Spring 2025 training workshop sessions held on select dates (TBD)
  • Be enrolled full time for Fall 2025 by May 2025
  • Pass a grade and conduct check
  • Be in good standing and eligible for hiring by the university
  • If registered for Summer 2025 classes outside of the UT System, the classes must be must be asynchronous to accommodate work schedule
  • Cannot be dually appointed with another office on-campus
  • Attend all mandatory training workshops (see OL timeline for dates/times)
  • Availability to work all summer programs
  • Able to walk long distances, stand for long periods of time, walk up and down stairs, and some light lifting
