Public Safety Officer Employment

Public Safety Officers (PSOs) are non-commissioned, uniformed security guards who provide a uniformed security presence across UTSA campuses and work as a team with the UTSA Police Department to support their shared purpose. Many of our current police officers started their careers at UTSA as public safety officers.

PSOs conduct patrols on foot, in visibly marked public safety vehicles and carts, and on bicycles.  Their uniformed presence often assists in deterring crime. Daily responsibilities for PSOs include enforcing university rules, policies and procedures, as well as providing security for special events, including the safety and welfare of students, faculty, staff and visitors.
