RPM Employee Spotlight: Kimberly Norton

Kim NortonKimberly Norton, who serves as the Assistant Director for Facilities in Real Estate and Property Management (RPM), is a foundation of UT San Antonio’s daily operations. With 28 years of service, she leads the Facilities Service Center, where her team manages work orders and service requests. From phone calls and emails to the online work portal, Kimberly ensures that every request is handled promptly, efficiently and with care.

A proud UT San Antonio alumna, Kimberly earned her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and originally planned to become a teacher. Those same communication and organizational skills now define her leadership style. She plays an essential role in training staff and contractors on the university’s electronic work order system, teaching them how to navigate technology, enter data correctly and manage requests effectively. Her ability to simplify complex systems and encourage teamwork makes her not just a manager, but a mentor and educator within Facilities.

Among her many accomplishments, Kimberly is especially proud of leading the transition from a paper-based to a fully electronic work order system. "This project required vision, adaptability and strong problem-solving skills," said Kimberly. "The change modernized how our technicians manage tasks, improved communication and streamlined efficiency." Under her guidance, Facilities moved confidently into a new era of digital management and accountability.

Kimberly’s professional strengths lie in customer service, leadership and communication. With decades of experience, she understands that empathy and listening are the foundation of great service. She encourages her team to approach every situation with understanding and professionalism, ensuring that students, faculty and staff always feel supported. Her calm approach to challenges and her ability to see solutions rather than obstacles have made her a trusted leader. Kimberly also encourages people starting their careers to seek mentorship, crediting her own mentors for helping shape her career and approach to leadership.

Having witnessed UT San Antonio’s tremendous growth firsthand, Kimberly takes deep pride in the university’s progress. “To see what we’ve become and to be part of that growth is amazing,” she shared. UT San Antonio’s transformation reflects both institutional and personal growth for Kimberly, who has been part of its evolution every step of the way.

Outside of work, Kimberly enjoys gardening, camping, and exploring Texas state parks with her family. Whether visiting Big Bend or the Hill Country, she finds inspiration in nature and the beauty of Texas she proudly calls home.

Through her dedication, technical expertise and people-first mindset, Kimberly is a leader who builds strong teams, drives innovation and continues to make a lasting impact on the Roadrunner community.
