Get Ready to Fiesta!

As you take in the many wonderful Fiesta San Antonio events, it's worth thinking about the close ties between UTSA and the city of San Antonio.  Billed as a “party with a purpose,” Fiesta San Antonio focuses on the aims of non-profit organizations -- what a great time think about our students’ achievements, development efforts and UTSA’s many successes!

This year, the Roadrunner community is represented well in Fiesta San Antonio:

  • Jon Gary Herrera, serves as El Rey Feo, and is an alumni of UTSA (Bachelor of Arts). He is only the 2nd UTSA alum to serve as El Rey Feo and will be featured in the upcoming Sombrilla magazine.
  • Sue Ann Pemberton, serves as President of the San Antonio Preservation Society (the organization that hosts NIOSA). She is a senior lecturer in the College of Architecture, Construction and Planning.
  • Arleigh Green (whose human is Heather Green) is on the court of El Rey Fido as Duchess of the Ever Present Fire Hydrant (San Antonio Humane Society). Heather is the Development Officer for Student Affairs.
  • Kamilah Avery serves as the Fiesta Queen of Soul. She is a senior at UTSA.
  • Emma Faye Rudkin serves as Miss San Antonio. She is a freshman Honors student at UTSA.

Try to attend one of the many Fiesta-related events here at UTSA; you're bound to see countless advertising posters around campus in the coming weeks! Here are a couple samples:
