The Office of Orientation and Family Programs continued for the second year in a row a new tradition called the Welcome Windows Contest. They invited various departments on campus to participate by decorating their office windows and showcasing their UTSA spirit and pride for the fall 2016 Orientation sessions!

The goal of the Welcome Windows Contest was to showcase UTSA spirit and give a warm and inviting welcome to the incoming Class of 2020.

Over 15 departments participated in the second annual Welcome Windows Contest, and it was an amazing sight to see so many colorful and creative windows on campus welcoming the new students and their families.

Orientation and Family Programs appreciates all the departments, those who participated in the contest and those who decorated their windows just for fun, taking time out of their schedules to welcome our new incoming Roadrunners! As promised, below are the winners for the Welcome Window Contest! Winners will be notified in order to receive their respective items and take a photo with the Orientation and Family Programs Staff.

  • Best Overall Window: The University Center
  • Most Creative Window: Life and Health Sciences Advising Center
  • Most Spirited Window: Office of the Registrar

Once again, thank you to all of those who participated!

On Friday, August 12, the University Career Center hosted the fourth annual Career Conference for seniors, graduate students and alumni.

The conference opened with a welcome from University Career Center Director Audrey Magnuson, followed by a screening of the inspirational film, “The Dream Share Project.” Film creators and producers Chip Hiden and Alexis Irvin then conducted an interactive workshop on “Finding and Living your Dream.”

After the morning general session, attendees were off to participate in their choice of nine breakout sessions on a variety of career and professional development topics, followed by a Formal Dining Etiquette Lunch session. The afternoon sessions included Group Mock Interviews, Networking & Elevator Speech Training and a conference ending Networking Reception with area employers.

Thanks to USAA and all our other conference sponsors for making this the best Career Conference yet and most of all thank you to all students and alumni who attended and participated!

Enrollment Services Updates

Updates on the One Stop Enrollment Center

The One Stop Enrollment Center provides the front-line customer service for Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid and Scholarships, and Registrar. We have locations at both the Main Campus and Downtown Campus as well as a call center that students call to ask questions.

Due to increasing student demand at the Main Campus location paired with decreasing student traffic at our Downtown Campus location (FS 1.500) in the past several years, we have adjusted the staffing and hours of operation to properly accommodate both locations.

New Downtown One Stop Hours of Operation
Monday - Friday, 9:00am - Noon and 1:00pm - 5:00pm

We will consistently have one (1) person available at the Downtown Campus location to answer student questions and take in paperwork throughout the summer. Students in need of more in-depth help are welcome (as they are now) to make an appointment with one of our Senior Counselors by calling 210-458-7169 or they can make appointments via Skype. They can also always contact the One Stop call center at 210-458-8000 (or toll-free 800-669-0919) between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Updates on the Welcome Center

The Downtown Welcome Center has closed its store front. Any admissions questions can be addressed at the One Stop Enrollment Center at the Downtown Campus. The UTSA Welcome Center is still offering tours at the Downtown Campus. Visitors and prospective students can visit the UTSA Welcome Center website and click the Daily Tour button to register for an upcoming Downtown Campus tour, submit a request for a special Group Tour, or view our Virtual Tour. For more information about UTSA or questions about the tours, email the Welcome Center or call 210-458-5145.

Updates on the Career Center

The University Career Center downtown location has moved from the MNT 1.162 to the One Stop Enrollment Center (FS 1.504B). Career Center staff are available in person at the Downtown Campus office on Tuesdays and Thursdays and can be reached via email or phone on other days of the week. The phone number remains the same: 210-458-2910. Students at the Downtown Campus will be able to receive the same services they always have. For more information, visit the UTSA Career Center website.
