In general, use a hyphen when using the word in a sentence, per the AP.

Exceptions include the UTSA Enriching Campus Wellbeing Initiative and Wellbeing Services, where a hyphen is not used.

West Side / Westside / Far West Side

West Side, two words each capitalized, is used to described the directionality of a location. (Not to be confused with San Antonio’s Far West Side, which describes the location between Highway 90 and Bandera Rd. going west of Loop 1604 and east to Loop 410.)

Nora lives on San Antonio’s West Side.
To get to the Downtown Campus, travel to the city’s West Side.

Westside, one word capitalized, refers to the historic neighborhood adjacent to the Downtown Campus. It can also be used as an adjective.

UTSA was founded to serve San Antonio’s historic Westside community.
UTSA’s Westside Community Center is located on Guadalupe St.

When a preposition is used before either reference, use “on,” not “in.”
