Performance Management: Mid-Year Check In Reminders
Note: The following message was sent today via email from People Excellence to all applicable staff and their direct supervisors.
As part of the annual performance management process, your supervisor will soon schedule a Mid-Year Check In meeting to discuss job performance and progress toward your SMART goals. These meetings will take place between Feb. 1 and March 29. The Mid-Year Check In is an opportunity to ensure clarity of established goals, celebrate achievements, gain feedback and make final adjustments to your goals as needed.
After the Mid-Year Check In meeting, your supervisor will “Open” the annual evaluation, which locks in the goals and prepares the system for the annual performance evaluation phase of the process. Once the evaluation is open, employees and supervisors are encouraged to begin adding comments about goal progress and job performance within the system to prepare for the year-end evaluation.
The Mid-Year Check In is an important part of the performance management cycle because it allows for a focused conversation with your supervisor to reflect on your progress and look ahead toward meeting your goals and furthering your ongoing professional development. The Mid-Year Check In process, which includes the meeting and opening the evaluation, should be completed by March 29. Visit the Performance Management website for resources, including job aides and professional learning opportunities.
